Nature Connection
Human growth starts in the soil;
growing food brings us together.
Friendship, community and kindness,
sharing in the community.
Open smiles sharing Hope.
Tender tendrils twine towards togetherness -
with a healthy dose of community and commitment,
courgettes and cabbages,
fresh air, fun and French beans.
Incredible inspiration growing food,
growing hearts, growing minds.
Learn, laugh and grow together.
The seeds we sow will help us grow!
Rim Ram Ree
Rim Ram Ree
Kick him in the knee
Rim Ram Rollocks
Kick him in the other knee
I wandered lonely as a carrot
It’s orange and it rhymes with parrot’
And twinkle on the potato patch
The birds and bees help pollinate the trees
We grow soul food with the worms (mole food?)
And it puts us in a good mood!
Dynamic though Provoking
To have a future we need to learn from the past.
When did we become too busy
To grow our own food?
Food is God -
God is in the Food
Worms and bees,
Grass and trees,
Storms and breeze,
And so it goes on.
Nature’s cycle into the future.
There is hope in our soils.
And love, lots of love
Green shoots through grey sky and wall,
inspired abundant life.
Walking through the old iron gate
to the hidden garden on the bridge.
The heavy scent of mint
and oregano immediately assails me
and welcomes me in.
Dark compost thirstily absorbs water.
Like opening a treasure chest
revealing the rich darkness below
the unpromising lumpy top,
seeking out those friendly worms.
I drink the dew that gathers on leaves
of what we planted here –
where before there was just grass.
The joy of sowing seeds and planting seedlings,
smelling the soil and noticing
the worms and insects.
We need insects - insects need us.
Walking through Conwy,
squeezing past the tourists
along the narrow pavements -
then - lettuces, chives and spring onions!
Like a picture of joy
inside a wooden frame.
That’s a plum tree,
and here’s a pear,
there’s an apple tree over there.
Feeding the tummy,
nourishing the soil,
enriching the mind.
I want to see green poems
growing in the green spaces
like hardy helpful weeds in the good earth.
And Love, lots of Love.
